iControl Awarded DHS Container Security Contract
In November 2004, iControl won a Phase II contract for the Marine Asset Tag Tracking System (MATTS) sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The goal of the Phase II effort will be to demonstrate iControl’s adaptive, multimode tracking and communications solution in a global test environment.
Past industry and government efforts have been limited to inventory tracking and “port-centric” container monitoring. MATTS will connect authorities to containers, “anytime, anywhere”. In addition to the extended capabilities, the MATTS program will also be part of the standards definition necessary to make container security adaptable worldwide.
