iControl Incorporated Web Enables Legacy
Two-Way Radio Systems for Data Transmission
(San
Jose, CA – Feb. 21, 2001) iControl,
Inc., the leader in remote control and data acquisition via the Internet, today
announced the expansion of its web enabling product line with the introduction
of its Two-Way Radio Interface card.
The card allows mobile service businesses to share the voice channel of
their existing radios to transmit data, issue pages, or provide text messaging
to their PDA’s.
“iControl
has made a name for itself by providing turnkey systems that put remote fixed
and mobile assets on the Internet”, states iControl President and CEO, E. Fred
Tubb. “We also recognize that companies
have invested in technologies that are underutilized. By data enabling traditional voice-only systems, such as two-way
radios, iControl provides companies with a cost-effective messaging and vehicle
tracking system.”
iControl’s
iDAC data acquisition and control units are outfitted with a palm-size
interface card. In addition to the
radio modem, the iDAC may also utilize a GPS interface card, control and data
acquisition interfaces, and serial interfaces to common handheld PCs. Bi-directional data from multiple vehicles
may be transmitted via customers’ two-way radios to a centralized iDAC with
Internet connectivity. iControl hosts
the Internet account and provides the customer with an integrated suite of web
applications for graphical tracking, data collection, and scheduling. For instance, a taxicab company could use
the web account to provide their customer’s with up-to-the-second information
on taxi arrival times, page-on-arrival services and online dispatch. The iControl system could also be used for
in-cab Internet and messaging services.
iControl
Incorporated is the leading provider of products and services that deliver
"anytime, anywhere" access to remote equipment via the Internet. The company’s patent-pending remote data
acquisition and control units (iDAC), Internet gateways (iGATE), and webserver
applications (iVIEWä) are combined
into flexible service plans that minimize upfront costs while maximizing
productivity. Whether monitoring oil and gas production, utility delivery,
weather conditions, traffic patterns, spacecraft telemetry or controlling
manufacturing processes, iControl customers can securely access their data from
any computer connected to the Internet or Intranet. iControl's headquarters are in San Jose, CA. For more information,
